Director of Development and Code Enforcement
The City of Athens, Ohio is now seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Development and Code Enforcement. This position is responsible for the operation of the Code Enforcement Department which interprets and enforces City ordinances and state codes pertaining to health and safety subdivision regulations, zoning code, flood plain, land development, housing code, vending regulations, and building regulations. The Director of Development and Code Enforcement also works with City administration to review proposed ordinances and propose amendments to existing City code. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to establish a certified city building department within the first year of employment.
This position is in the unclassified service of the City, exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and in a pay grade 10 with a biweekly salary range of $2,304.00 – $3,225.60, and a target biweekly salary range of $2,304.00 – 2,534.40. Salary will be offered based on qualifications and experience. Minimum qualifications include knowledge of Athens City Code and Ohio Building Code, ability to accurately interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints, strong leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communications skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, and supervisory experience with a unionized labor force. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, business or related field required. Successful completion of a post-offer background check is required.
