Environmental Health Technician

 

POSITION: Classified, benefits-eligible based on hours

HOURS: 40 hours per week, M-F 7:30 am – 4:00 pm; may include limited weekend and evening hours

SALARY: Environmental Health Technician $15.71-$27.04/hour (Commensurate with experience and skills)

Environmental Health (EH) strives to foster an environment of collaboration and growth, and pride ourselves on working together with the community to solve some of Public Health’s most difficult challenges. The EH Division strives to build a team of individuals with unique perspectives and talents that can add a diversity and depth to the division.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

ï‚· Investigates complaints or reports of public health nuisances, housing issues and diseases

ï‚· Writing and issuing compliance orders in accordance with applicable laws and rules

ï‚· Prepare meaningful, concise, and accurate reports

ï‚· Resolve complaints from the general public

ï‚· Communicating effectively- written and oral

ï‚· Collects and delivers environmental samples

ï‚· Performs school safety inspections

ï‚· Performs routine environmental tests

ï‚· Responsible for the Rabies Control Program

ï‚· Assists EH administrative staff

ï‚· Use of basic computer programs such as Word and Excel

ï‚· Participate in public health emergency response as needed

ï‚· May be required to prepare documents and testify in court proceedings

ï‚· May be required to respond to a complaint after regular business hours

ï‚· This position is primarily responsible for work in the Nuisance/Housing, Pool, Private Water Systems and Rabies Control

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

ï‚· Minimum of a high school diploma, Associates degree preferred.

ï‚· A valid Ohio driver’s license with own vehicle and ability to maintain a driving record that meets the insurability requirements of Miami County Public Health’s insurance provider.
